Unfriendly and rude staff, not welcoming in the slightest and not a smile in sight they make you feel as though you are an inconvenience to them. The tea and cappuccino was tasteless, the blonde waitress gave my mother a cup with red lipstick when we alerted her about this politely she didn't even apologise, she retrieved a clean cup which she plonked down on the table again no apology or slightest bit of friendliness.

e bill down on the table and walked off without saying a word to us, we hadn't even requested it. The supervisor was friendly and helpful towards my relatives with limited mobility. Extremely disapointed as it is a beautiful setting however the staff lack basic customer service skills and this ruins the experience. Unlikely to return.

Friendly, tasty food, fair value for money. Try the lamb burger. Very good.
Many thanks for your review Frank. You may have spotted from an earlier review that we've had some technical gremlins in the coffee machine lately, but these are all sorted now
Many thanks for your review Emma, much appreciated

Do avoid, just been for coffee, machine must be on the blink, no taste, do not think they flushed the cleaning liquid properly. Cakes look very tired, so helped me resist the temptation. Just next door in the next courtyard much better, more serious cafés who know how to make coffee.
Thanks for your review Steve, and apologies for the coffee experience. The coffee equipment is cleaned properly and religiously, but there appears to be another issue affecting the dosing which we are having investigated
Thanks for your review Fran, that's really useful. We're delighted that you enjoy the food, and will investigate why the staff on duty were not as obviously friendly as usual. We normally get very good reports of the friendliness and efficiency of staff, but it is vital that we are consistent in this respect

What a wonder St George's day seeing all the children playing with the many interactive games was lovely. Excellent way of play teaching history.

I don't normally feel the need to write a review but had to use my sons account as felt so strongly… Came here as a family saw good reviews especially as my husband has Coeliac disease so eats a Gluten Free diet. To start with there was no child menu offered for my younger daughter, then we had to wait ages to order food as two other families came in after us and were served before us, we told the waitress my husband needed gluten free, when our food arrived we asked if my husbands was gluten… – show
free (he had sausage on a baguette) and the chef said not the bread today!! we explained he has coeliac disease and he did change it immediately as he hadn't known it should have been a gluten free meal, I feel the waitress needs informing about food allergies and addressing this with the kitchen, altogether not a great experience and probably won't be going back. Hello Jackie. Many thanks for taking the trouble to leave feedback, and I'm so sorry about the points you raise. We did have a new young waitress on duty that day who forgot some of the key points of her training. Our Mini Merchants children's menu is always available, and should have been offered when younger members of your group were spotted, and more importantly the gluten free request for your husband's baguette — which we can always provide for — was not communicated to the kitchen. The yo… – show
ung waitress is mortified at her error(s) and now very aware of the need for accuracy. Again, thank you for highlighting this and our sincerest apologies for your experience
Many thanks for your review Joe, much appreciated. Hope to see you again soon

Must try the Coventry Godcakes. Other cakes can be a little on the pricey side but food is good. Lovely setting & great if you need to get away from the hussle & bustle
Thanks for your feedback Ann. Lighting is tricky in the below ground level space, and as a Grade I listed medieval structure we are limited in what we are allowed to do, but we are looking at options for increasing light levels

Wonderful service in an interesting environment. And the food is good also. As a tourist I would highly recommend touring the Guild Hall and then going for a bite here.
